The Joys of Yin: a Workshop with Norman Blair
For the Love of Yin
Yin yoga is a meditative practice. The emphasis is on staying in 'β shapesβ for significant periods of time. Stillness and attention are prioritised above βachievingβ a pose.
This three-hour Yin yoga workshop is a precious chance to slow down and to soften. Norman Blair is one of the most experienced Yin teachers in UK and he has been teaching these workshops since 2003. This practice of mindfully bending and gently moving can be remarkably rejuvenating for our body-mind-heart. Yin yoga gives us the space to slow down and stay with our experiences rather than always rushing and striving to achieve. The floor-based postures are held for several minutes. Plenty of props to make this practice as accessible as possible.
About Norman
Norman began practising yoga in the early 1990s and he has been teaching since 2001. His practice and teaching embrace both Ashtanga yoga and Yin yoga as well as mindfulness meditation. Through significant periods of training with teachers such as Alaric Newcombe, Judith Hanson Lasater, Richard Freeman and Sarah Powers, he has gained the Yoga Alliance 500 hour accreditation. He believes that yoga is accessible to all of us, and through regular practice, we can experience profound changes in our mind and body. His own experience has taught him that yoga is an enjoyable way to release and make available energetic potential to enhance our lives.
Yoga can help us to become more flexible, physically stronger and improve our stamina, focus and awareness. Norman teaches intuitive/dynamic flow yoga and Yin yoga classes and workshops throughout London, as well as leading retreats. His Yin yoga training courses are respected and popular. He has run yoga teacher mentoring groups for more than ten years.

Embodied Stillness: an introduction to Meditation. With Suryadashini
Do you love moving your body but find yourself squirming after just a few minutes of sitting still? You want to find that quiet place within yourselfβif only you had the right tools to get there.
Meditation often leaves us bored, frustrated or convinced it's 'not our thing.' The common culprit? We're trying to use our heads when we actually need to drop into our bodies.
This two-hour meditation masterclass tackles the real challenges: posture problems, mental distractions and plain resistance to sitting still. Through linking movement to stillness, we'll learn a simple breathing practice and three-minute mindfulness break you can take anywhere. Most importantly, we'll explore your specific obstacles to establishing a seated practice and discover your next step toward finding that still centreβthe place of deepest connection with yourself.
About Suryadashini
Suryadarshini (Surya) fuses Buddhist mindfulness and yoga asana, bringing kind awareness to both movement and stillness. She began practising yoga in 2004, and when she learned to meditate in 2008, her asana practice took on a new dimensionβshe has woven the two together ever since.
After completing her training with Bodhiyoga in 2012, she taught weekly classes and workshops in Norwich and now teaches annually on retreats at Dhanakosa, a Buddhist retreat center in Scotland. Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2016, she received the name Suryadarshini, which means 'she who has the vision of the sun'.

HAR HAR MAHADEV: Return to Shiva with Jahnavi Claire Missingham
Jahnavi Claire Missingham comes to Norwich for two amazing workshops and to help us celebrate our 1 year anniversaryβ¦
Claire Missingham (Jahnavi) was originally an award-winning choreographer for movies and commercials and the youngest UK choreographer to run her own dance company, winning the Princeβs Trust Award for youth innovation in 1999. While still a choreographer in New York, Jahnavi studied at Jivamukti Yoga from 1997-2005, and travelled regularly to Mysore to train in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga directly with Sri Pattabhi Jois from 2000-2009, and has now taught Yoga full-time for 24 years. She was also one of the first teachers to bring Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training to the UK in 2009 and has trained hundreds of UK Vinyasa teachers.
She is trained to Level 2 3HO Kundalini Yoga, certified in Jivamukti Yoga and continues her academic and philosophical studies with the Ramakrishna Seminary in California, where she has taken her GuruDiksha. She toured as a private yoga teacher with many clients coming from the film and music industry including actors and musicians such as Natalie Imbruglia, the Spice Girls, Neve Campbell, Minnie Driver, Katie Puckrick, Danny Huston, among many other well-known celebrities.
What makes Jahnavi Claire Missingham unique is her inspirational fusion of incredibly well-choreographed 3-step asana, detailed use and understanding of esoteric anatomy and A&P, and the use of music as a refined somatic healing resource (not as background noise). Each philosophical class weaves the theme with the physical, and with pranayama, meditation, mantra, lesser-known mudras and well-researched poetry that presumes each student to be intellectually capable of such detail within the Yoga practice.
Since 2007, Claire has written for Yoga Journal in the USA, featuring twice on the cover, in the calendars, and writing numerous sequences and articles for the print magazine with a distribution of over 2million+.
She was also regularly a featured teacher at Yoga Journal conferences in the USA and Asia. She was a resident teacher at Triyoga in London, UK, for 17 years with a large, loyal following in the UK. Claire has also produced an award-winning Vinyasa Yoga DVD and Music for Yoga. Claire has featured and written on wellbeing for Tatler, Grazia and Vogue. She created award-winning Yoga practice TV channels for Sky Television, and was the only non-USA teacher to be invited to be a faculty teacher on Yogaglo, being awarded a Green Card in 2017 for βextraordinary abilityβ in the art of teaching Yoga (OB1).
Claire will be returning to a regular London class offering vinyasa classes at Home, a new studio concept housed in the very first Triyoga studio in Primrose Hill
Jahnavi is now a board trustee of Go Dharmic, fulfilling Seva in India and London, as well as leading and curating cultural Yoga tours in India, partnering with the Taj Hotel Group to keep the roots of Yoga alive in the West.

Workshop 1. HAR HAR MAHADEV: Return to Shiva
Come and experience a workshop with one of the original UK pioneers of Vinyasa Yoga. In this powerful Yogasana class, we invoke the strength and wisdom of Shiva, weaving the garland of Shiv Mantras, YogAsana and Meditation to bring us back to our ultimate great yogi power within. The Tandava is a powerful kriya-like dance that awakens Mahadev within you: giving you access to your devotion and power.
What to expect: Mythical flow sequences, dynamic asana, Kriya (repetitive movements to purify the pranic system) and beautiful mantras.
Stories behind Shiv as the Lord of Meditation Hatha yoga was taught by Shiva to Matsyendranath, not as an outer form of shape but to harness Prana and create inner alignment for meditation. The Vastasutra Upnishad emphasizes that placing the limbs and spine along certain symmetrical lines is like knowledge of the divine. The Gheranda Samhita is another ancient text that provides detailed instructions on yoga postures, breathing techniques, and other practices. With good alignment, we are honouring the historical context of Yog as well as Raj Yog and Hatha Yog paths of controlling the mind and controlling Prana simultaneously.
Time: 2-4.30pm
Following the workshop, from 5-6pm Jahnavi Claire will be in conversation with Yantra founder and podcast host Abby Hoffmann talking about her life, philosophy of teaching and will answer any questions on yoga, yoga philosophy and more! The talk is free but donations to Go Dharmic would be very welcome.
Cost: Β£45 (or Β£80 if booking both)
