What if a stiff or painful lower back isn’t always about the lower back itself?
In my work as a Feldenkrais Practitioner and Pilates teacher, I often see a lot of unnecessary holding around the pelvis and hip joints. When the hips and pelvis aren’t free to move and manage and distribute load, the lower back can end up doing more of the work — particularly when we bend, turn, twist or lift.
In this two-hour workshop, we’ll discover how the pelvis can act as the engine of movement, using the Feldenkrais Method as our tool for exploration.
When the pelvis is free to move, we invite greater freedom throughout the whole body — from the shoulders and arms to the legs and feet — allowing movement and force to be more evenly distributed and creating a sense of full-body power from the inside out.
This isn’t about more Kegels, gripping or holding. Instead, this workshop is designed to give you an experiential understanding of the bones and rhythms of your pelvis, and how they interact with your hips and spine to create greater efficiency and power in movement.
This workshop is for you if you experience stiffness or tightness in your lower back or hips, or simply want to understand your pelvis and its role in movement. Whether you practise Pilates, yoga or another movement discipline, or you’re a movement teacher wanting to deepen your understanding, come and discover the power of a free, responsive pelvis.
Suitable for all levels. No previous experience of Feldenkrais is required.
